Pearl Harbor Day

December 7, 1941 was an infamous day in American history. It was the day that Japanese bombers flew to the naval base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and bombed. This attack was what triggered America to declare war on Japan. America had previously not been involved in World War II, but on December 8, 1941 the USA entered the war.
The war against Japan lasted until 1945 when Japan finally surrendered on August 15.
As we remember the attack that was made 72 years ago on this day, let us thank God for the heroes that gave their all so that we could be free today.

Happy Thanksgiving

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. We did. We had a quiet day with just us because my older brother Josiah just got back from a six month internship with the National Center for Family Integrated Churches (NCFIC). We had all missed him a lot so it was nice to have him home.
We had the typical feast with turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, stuffing, green beans (YUM!), and brussel sprouts. And lots of PIE! Pecan (YUCK), Apple, Pumpkin, and Cream pies.
Below is a video of us preparing and enjoying our feast--and no, you don't have to worry. It is only about 3 minutes long.
Hope you enjoy!

Old Journal

I was on my mom's computer and I came across an old journal from when I was 5 or 6. I just thought it would be cute to post it.
My Day At The Water Park
By: Eleah Orr

Yesterday we went to a Water Park with Grandfather and Grandma. There was a splashy water pool. I got to splash in the splashy pool. I got to stand in the 2 ½ foot pool and the 3 foot pool. Grandma played with me in the 2 ½ foot pool.  I went down the Water-Slide. It was fun! There were cones that filled with water, that you stand under, and when they were all the way filled they dumped water on your head. There was a swing set, 2 Pirate ships, a castle, a train, a army truck, and a tree house to play on. I liked the fireman-poles. After the water park we ate at Joe’s pizza parlor. Then we went home.

Happy Independence Day!

We celebrated the 4th of July with a neighborhood picnic. We invited all the neighbors on our street and surprisingly all were able to come with the exception of one or two families. It was a blast! We had hot dogs and ribs and other delicious picnic-y foods and then once it got dark enough, we had a terrific show of 'fireworks'. Almost everyone brought some fireworks so it was a big show. Some of our favorites were  'Pink Ice', 'Mad Dog', and 'Surfs Up'. It was a great opportunity to get to know our neighbors better and celebrate our freedom. Hope everyone else had a great 4th of July too.

Cow Appreciation Day

On Friday, July 12 was Cow Appreciation Day at Chik-fil-a. If you dressed up as a cow, you got a free meal. We decided to do that this year. Here are a few pictures of our costumes.
Ethan was the only one who didn't get dressed up

Baby Blanket

Recently I finished my first full-sized crocheted baby blanket. I made it for a lady in our church who was having a baby. Even though it was my first one, it turned out pretty nicely.

The Story of My Name

My mom heard a song years ago called  Elya by a group called Silverwind . She thought that the name sounded pretty but didn't know the meaning or the spelling of it. She found out that it is a variation of the name Elijah (Eliyahu) meaning "The Lord He is God". She found another spelling Eliyah but decided to spell it Eleah.  The song Elya is below.

Also, we entered my name in the search engine and found this: http://eleahmed.org/
If you click on their mission statement they will tell you about their name. I thought that was neat. :)
I am very glad that my mom and dad named me this name.

My Family

I've had this blog for about five months and I just realized I have not introduced you to my family. Since there's no time like the present I may as well do it now.

First there's Dad and Mom, who are the best parents in the world
Then there is my sweet older sister, Anna-Rebekah

And my three older brothers:
Timothy, the amusing entertainer, Josiah, the tech guy, and Ethan, the cool one
And then there's me...I love to read, eat chocolate, and hold babies

Matthew is my younger brother who loves to play outdoors with his brothers
Susannah is a regular bookworm and always has a smile on her face
Elijah is our charming  and dramatic storyteller

And last but not least is Jenna Beth, our sweet, smiley cutie-pie.

And here is all of us together...just one crazy family :)

Happy Birthday Jenna Beth!

Earlier this month, my 'baby' sister had her fourth birthday. Time flies so fast! It seems like she was just a little tiny baby and now she is a very active, talkative, funny, adorable little girl!

All of these pics are from last year...I don't have any from this year yet, but I will post some later.

Sweet Little Jenna Beth

She loves to dress up...especially as a princess!

This is a cute pic of her and big brother Elijah.

I think the best present that she received was her r's. She is now officially able to say four and purple
with no trouble at all. I love my little sister very much and pray that God may grant her many more
years of life and that she may live to see her great-great-grandchildren.
